In 1904, the Appomattox Depot still remained active, and train schedules were printed in the newspaper to inform travelers when to expect train departures and arrivals. Petersburg was a hub for most train companies, including the Atlantic Cost Line Railroad Company, the Seaboard and Air Line Railroad, The Old Dominion Line for New York, The N&W (Norfolk and Western) and the Chesapeake Line for Baltimore.
