[ 10 October 2009; ] The Civil War Preservation Trust (CWPT), the nation’s largest nonprofit battlefield preservation organization, is accepting nominations through its website for an annual report on endangered Civil War battlefields.

[ 19 September 2009; ] Woodbury Historical Tours, along with with NPS historian, Patrick Schroeder, will gather for breakfast at a local Appomattox eatery, scrutinize maps and discuss itinerary and then head out for a full day of touring with a lunch stop at the historic Babcock House. Lunch is included with the day’s fee, which is $125 per person.

[ 4 April 2009; ] On Saturday, April 4, Appomattox Court House NHP will participate in the 11th annual Park Day sponsored by the Civil War Preservation Trust’s (CWPT) and the History Channel. This year’s project will be to repaint a 300-foot section of picket fence that surrounds the Plunkett-Meeks Store situated in the middle of the historic village.

Civil War Preservation Trust (CWPT) members will be greeted with dramatically different sight when they open their mailboxes this month. Hallowed Ground, the group’s award-winning membership magazine, is sporting a new look meant to emphasize the dramatic visual images of the Civil War and showcase the preservation organization’s wide range of activities. It is the first makeover of the magazine in nearly decade.
