I am a decendent of Zachary Taylor's older brother George. Said to have died young 40 years or more young. I have traced George though family papers and Ancestors.com. There is little I can find about him but through his son Toliver that died in the battle at Franklin Ten. I found the whole family tree. Toliver was my Great Grandmother's father. All I do know is that he ran plantations that he owned (or possibly the family) in Virginia but I think he did not make the move to Louisville with the family. I cannot find where he is buried and have been trying to find the plantations that they owned. If you have any info please let me know. Thanks Sallie Hood

Keep telling that history:

Read the novel, Rescue at Pine Ridge, "RaPR", a great story of black military history...the first generation of Buffalo Soldiers.

How do you keep a people down? ‘Never' let them 'know' their history.

The 7th Cavalry got their butts in a sling again after the Little Big Horn Massacre, fourteen years later, the day after the Wounded Knee Massacre. If it wasn't for the 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers, there would of been a second massacre of the 7th Cavalry.

Read the novel, “Rescue at Pine Ridge”, 5 stars Amazon, Barnes & Noble and the youtube trailer commercial...and visit the website http://www.rescueatpineridge.com

I hope you’ll enjoy the novel. I wrote it from my mini-series movie of the same title, “RaPR” to keep my story alive. Hollywood has had a lot of strikes and doesn't like telling our stories...its been “his-story” of history all along…until now. The movie so far has attached, Bill Duke directing, Hill Harper, Glynn Turman and a host of other major actors in which we are in talks with…see imdb.com at; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0925633/

When you get a chance, also please visit our Alpha Wolf Production website at; http://www.alphawolfprods.com and see our other productions, like Stagecoach Mary, the first Black Woman to deliver mail for Wells Fargo in Montana, in the 1890's, “spread the word”.

Peace.

As a writer of Civil War history (America's Civil War, Civil War News, etc.), and having met Mitch Bowman at a reenactment some years ago in Virginia, I am requesting information for possible placement of Martinsville on the Va Civil War Trails. (Gen. Stoneman captured the town in the closing months of the war and a 300-man detachment of Gen. Wheeler's calvary had a skirmish here. There is a historical marker at the Historic old Courthouse noting Stoneman's troopers presence before he moved on to Danbury, NC to begin his "Last Raid" through that state. Danbury has one NC Civil War Trails designated site with another just approved by county government.
Thanks for any information on designating Martinsville a Va Civil War Trails site.

Hello there. I was just wondering is it true that after Lee surrendered that there was some battle happened and that the Confederates won it but knew really that the war was over.
I was also wondering who are all the paintings of in the Mcclean house and is there anywhere I could see pictures of the Mcclean family?
Did wilmer Mcclean's family and are they all buried in the same graveyard?

Thank your,

Jim Burke
