[ 1 November 2009; 1 April 2010; ] Short-term fellowships are awarded for periods of one, two, three or four months to doctoral candidates and postdoctoral scholars from any country working on Jefferson-related projects. At least one fellowship will be reserved for related research topics in African-American History and in archaeology for fellows using the Digital Archaeological Archive of Comparative Slavery.

Fellows will devote their time to research and writing on topics directly related to Thomas Jefferson, his times, and legacy. The award is intended to support revision of the fellow’s book manuscript, but consideration will be given to candidates who propose to undertake original research.

[ 1 November 2009; ] The McNeil Center will appoint a recent recipient of the PhD as a Postdoctoral Fellow for a two-year term beginning 1 July 2010. The fellow will receive a starting stipend of $41,000; health insurance; private office space in the Center’s building at the northeastern gateway to the University of Pennsylvania’s historic campus; library, computer, and other privileges at the university; and access to the Philadelphia area’s magnificent manuscript, rare book and museum collections.

[ 15 March 2009; ] In 2009, George Mason University and the American Historical Association will offer the first Roy Rosenzweig Fellowship for Innovation in Digital History. This award was developed by friends and colleagues of Roy Rosenzweig (1950–2007), Mark and Barbara Fried Professor of History and New Media at George Mason University, to honor his life and work as a pioneer in the field of digital history.
