The Museum of the Confederacy and the Byrd Theatre Foundation proudly announce their 2nd Annual Civil War Cinema event, on November 21st from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at the historic Byrd Theatre. At 1:00 p.m. there will be a Champagne & Chocolate reception, followed by a presentation by author and UVA professor Dr. Gary Gallagher. The classic motion picture Shenandoah, starring Jimmy Stewart will follow.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Museum or on its web site, and at Plan 9 Music’s Richmond location: 3012 Cary Street. Ticket prices are: $15.00 or $10.00 with a student ID. Tickets purchased on the museum’s web site www.moc.org by 11/13 will be mailed and those purchased after that date will be held at the door. All proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit both the Museum of the Confederacy and the Byrd Theatre Foundation.
Dr. Gallagher will be available to sign his latest book, Causes Won, Lost, and Forgotten: How Hollywood and Popular Art Shape What We Know about the Civil War during the reception. A book about Richmond’s only movie palace, Celebrating the Byrd Theatre will also be available for purchase.
